Privacy policy
This policy describes how Edlyst (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use our websites, applications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to this policy alongside our Terms of use.
Information we collect
Account and contact details. If you create an account or contact us, we collect information such as your name, email address, and messages you send.
Content you provide. When you submit photos, location context, notes, or other materials for plant identification, we process that content to operate the Services and improve accuracy.
Device and technical data. We collect standard logs and diagnostics—such as device type, operating system, app version, and approximate region derived from IP address—to secure our systems and troubleshoot issues.
Usage information. We analyze how features are used in aggregate to refine the product, fix defects, and understand performance.
How we use information
- Provide identification results, personalization, and customer support
- Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and enforce our terms
- Train and evaluate models where permitted, using appropriate safeguards
- Comply with law and respond to valid legal requests
- Communicate service updates or policy changes when necessary
Legal bases (where applicable)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or similar jurisdictions, we process personal data on bases that include contract performance, legitimate interests (such as securing the Services and improving them), consent where requested, and legal obligation.
Sharing
We share information with service providers who assist us—such as hosting, analytics, and communications—under contractual confidentiality and security requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and integrity. If we reorganize or transfer assets, your information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to safeguards.
We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly defined in U.S. state privacy laws.
Retention
We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, unless a longer period is required for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or legitimate business needs.
Security
We employ administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage strong passwords and device protections on your side.
International transfers
We may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, to port certain data, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. To exercise rights, contact privacy@edlyst.com. We will verify requests as permitted by law.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us so we can delete it promptly.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
